"A little Night Music“ over the rooftops of Salzburg

With more than 300 concerts being performed every year, the world-renowned Salzburg Fortress Concerts take their place among the most magnificent series of chamber music concerts. The special atmosphere of the 900 year-old Fortress Hohensalzburg together with the excellent acoustics of the Golden Hall ensure that the concert-goer experiences far more than just a concert. From the concert hall and high above the city, you have an incomparable and unique view of the town of Salzburg and its surroundings. Watching a Fortress Concert makes for an unforgettable experience and a highlight of your stay in Salzburg.

The most beloved works by Mozart and Strauss as well as other great masters of music are performed by internationally-renowned soloists.

The “Best of Mozart Orchestra Concerts” are unique to Salzburg and take place in the most magnificent hall in the city – the Golden Hall on the 900 year-old Salzburg fortress. The Mozart Chamber Orchestra of Salzburg, a highly professional and internationally sought-after chamber steeped in tradition, mainly performs the musical treasures of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in a line-up of varying size.

The Fortress Hohensalzburg is reachable via the fortress railway, Festungsgasse 4, 47°47'44''N 13°2'46''E  (Google maps plus code: Q2WW+HC Salzburg, Österreich)
Please present your print@home ticket at the ticket counter of the fortress railway valley station in order to receive a free ticket for the fortress railway.
The ascent with the fortress railway is applicable to concert guests from one hour before the concert and for dinner + concert guests from 30 minutes before the dinner respectively!

HOW TO GET THERE:
Fortress Hohensalzburg is located in the pedestrian zone in the heart of the Old Town. Direct access to the fortress via car is not possible!
The fortress can be reached within about 15 minutes on foot from most of the city’s hotels, we therefore generally advise city hotel guests not to undertake the journey to the area surrounding the fortress with their own car.
Getting there with a taxi:
Taxis can drop you off directly by the valley station of the fortress railway and can be ordered by calling 0043-662-8111.
Getting there with a car:
We recommend the Old Town car park “Altstadtgarage” at Hildmannplatz 1, Entry (Einfahrt) B. Then follow  in the garage the signpost “FESTUNG/DOM”. The walk to the fortress from there then takes about 10 minutes. After leaving the garage cross the” Toscaninihof” and turn right direction “DOM (big cathedral)”. In front of the DOM you can see on the right sight the fortress at the mountain Mönchsberg. Cross the “Kapitelplatz” which leads into the Festungsgasse.
You can have your parking ticket punched at the evening box office at the entrance to the concert hall. You can then park at a reduced rate.

The fortress funicular is included in the ticket price from 1 hour before concert begin.

The ascent with the fortress funicular takes about 2 minutes. The fortress funicular runs every 10 minutes.

The fortress funicular is operated until the last concert guest is in the city, until approx. 20 minutes after the concert.
